Want to expand your sewing skills and learn how to accurately measure, cut, piece and assemble a quilt? This hands-on class will help you understand the tools and techniques used in quilt construction, and show you how to make nine different quilt blocks, which will become your own sampler quilt top. Each class will build upon skills learned in the prior week, and participants will leave each class with an assignment to complete at home.
Skills in Practice:
Selection of fabric and quilting tools
Color theory and placement
Quilting math and terminology
Safe use of rotary cutters and rulers
Accurate piecing
How placement pieced units can change the effect of a block
Layout and assembly of the quilt top
Please note that finishing the quilt top (basting, quilting, and binding) is a separate class that is offered once your top is finished. (Finish That Quilt!)
Please ensure your machine is in good working order prior to the first day of class. Ask me if you need recommendations for purchasing new or servicing an older sewing machine.
Homework: yes -- usually finishing tasks from class, or working on your project to meet a goal
